Hello Families!

We had a very busy week preparing for parent teacher conferences. We were happy to meet and see all the parents who were able to visit! Check the bottom of this posts for some links to learning :)

Math- We continue to work on addition and subtraction with regrouping up to 1 000

Inquiry- We explored the model of states of matter, and learned that all matter is made of atoms. In social studies we are learning mapping skills and learning about the communities we know about in Alberta. We finished our STEM challenge in building and designing a wheel for the Rover to withstand a rough terrain.

Literacy- Students continue to practice their reading skills using Raz Kids and Read to Self. Classes worked descriptive language techniques like Show No Tell. Our goal is to make our writing more interesting and to hook the reader. We worked on punctuation, spelling and sentence structure.

Ignite - We practice our drawing skills and linked eyes to different emotions. How can you evoke emotion in your character?

Next week students will take their math learning up a notch and begin adding and subtractiong multiple digit numbers. Grade 4s need to practice up to 10 000.00 (including up to the hundredth place) and grade 3 will practice up to 1 000. We will continue to paint a picture with our words by appealing to our senses. In inquiry we are looking forward to exploring an experiement using solids, liquids and gasses.
