Hello families!
What fun we have been having this week! Students have been learning about levers and other simple machines and created a catapult this week! Here is a sneak peak before student led conferences!
Our reading groups have been off to a great start! Students have been placed in groupings and given reading tasks as we work on our understanding of reading (comprehension). You can help out with reading comprehension at home by asking your child questions about what they are reading, who the main character is, if they find any similarities or differences with the main character and themselves, a summary of the story, etc.
In math we are exploring our understanding of area and perimeter, by creating tiny houses! (some for the sneaky leprechauns!) We continue to focus on learning and solidifying strategies for large number multiplication and division and basic facts. Please continue to support your child at home as they master their basic facts (it really helps!!)
Chinook has a new member! Please welcome our new pre-service teacher, Ms. Gruenhauge. She will be working with Ms. Turner and teaching in small group and whole class activities. She will be with us until mid April. We are so excited to have her in the class with us!
Next week are student led conferences. Please sign up for a time on Thursday evening or Friday (times go live Saturday). This is a great time to come to the school WITH your child as they explain what they have learned and connections they have made by showing evidence of their learning throughout the year.
