Hello Families,
We had a short week this week, as our fall break began on Wednesday. We focused our morning Ignite time around Math puzzles. Students had the opportunity to use technology, pyramids and partner support to solve mathematical problems. Much of our learning this week was centred around Remembrance Day and we sat in on a beautiful service put on by 3/4 Cox/Patterson to honour this day.
Learning Intentions from the week:
- I can assess the reasonableness of a sum or difference using estimation
- I can identify the place value of whole numbers including the thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones place
- I can round numbers to various places, including tens and hundreds place
- I can partition numbers using "part-part-whole" models
- I can create a scientific plan and build a wheel prototype which will move over terrain
- I can write a thoughtful message in letter form to honour the sacrifices of others
- I can experiment with procedural writing by using transition words and steps to explain how to...
- I can use my understandings of phonics to decode words at my level
